M2M and IoT: How ZigBee Gives Voice to the Machines

Last Thursday we are lucky enough to invite Dr. Robert F. Heile, chairman of the ZigBee Alliance, chair of the IEEE 802.15 Working Group on WPANs, and a founding member of 802, to make the speech for us.

Here’s the lecture information.

Abstract

M2M is growing rapidly.  One of the reasons for that is the ready availability of cost effective applications, communications and networks making it practical to interconnect all manner of devices to create the true Internet of Things.  This is what the ZigBee Alliance was formed to do and now a broad community of stakeholders are deploying this global standard giving voice to these machines and enabling a whole host of new business opportunities. This talk summarizes the latest advances in M2M in Telecom Services, Heatlhcare, Building Automation, Smart Homes, Smart Meters and Consumer Devices.  A look ahead at the what’s happening to streamline Retail Services from point of manufacture to point of sale is also provided.
